WORK WITH ME

No matter how stressed or frazzled I get, I have a secret weapon that allows me to quickly re-center and let the craziness go.
If you give me 5 minutes to meditate, I can find some peace.
When I meditate I am at ease and know that everything is fine.
If I’m feeling anxious, angry, sad, stressed or have a long to-do list on my mind, I can sit in meditation and get a fresh outlook.
My to-do list isn’t any shorter and the situations causing me stress and anxiety are still there, but I see them differently. I have a new perspective.
I’m generally more productive, come up with better solutions and have a happier outlook on life.
Although I meditate every morning (it’s as important to me as breathing and eating), I also meditate throughout the day when I realize I’m getting sluggish, tired, irritable or stressed.
Generally, it only takes about 5 minutes to get re-centered.
This didn’t happen over night. It took time and practice. But once I got the hang of it, I could meditate any time, any place and find some comfort.
If you’re interested in learning to meditate but don’t know where to begin, here are some tips to get you started:
(1) Start simple and easy. Set a timer for 5 minutes and just be quiet for that amount of time. Sit in a chair or cross-legged on the floor, close your eyes and breathe deeply. That’s it. Don’t even worry about trying to shut off your mind.
(2) Use music to help you relax. You can find hours worth of songs on my Spotify meditation playlist HERE. Pick a song that’s about 5 minutes long. Close your eyes, breathe and relax. That’s it.
(3) Find something to focus on. Whether it’s your breath, the sound of the air conditioner humming or birds chirping, choose a noise or sensation and focus on that. If you find your mind wondering, no big deal. Just bring your attention back to your focal point again and again until the timer or song goes off.
(4) Use guided meditations. You can find plenty of different kinds of guided meditations on iTunes and Spotify. They will help you redirect the focus of your busy mind to something more relaxing.
The more you practice, you’ll find that it gets easier and easier. You can sit for longer periods of time without feeling restless and your mind and body will naturally start to relax more deeply.
Wishing you a calm and peaceful week!
With love,
Heather
